New Look Spring/Summer 2014

Monday, January 6, 2014
Two weeks ago I've attended New Look Spring/Summer 2014 Press Day to see the upcoming trends. There are four main trends in total which cover pretty much everything from floral skirts and dresses to oversized, slouchy jumpers and acid denim. There is also a fabulous collection of jewellery and shoes. Safe to stay that chunky necklaces are still going strong and as always New Look will deliver the prettiest gems on the high street. The shoes are full of chunky platforms, embroideries and colourful prints. My favourtie picks are from the Neon Bloom and California Dreaming trends. I also love all the pretty pastel heels, delicate crochet flats and colourful necklaces.
Neon Bloom
Pretty pastels and fabulous florals make up our Neon Bloom story. Skirts are mid length and intricate in delicate lace, whilst Spring coats are lightweight and embellished. Slouched jersey jumpers are updated with statement necklaces for a modern clean look.

California Dreaming
Taking on a new print direction, this story plays with Aztec, patchwork, paisley and zebra. Loose silk tees are teamed with rustic beaded jackets and print matching is key in harem trousers and crop tops. This is a festival and boho mash up.

Tomorrows Yesterday
Monochrome at its best; polka dots, gingham and stripes infused with flashes of baby pink. Mesh is introduced on skirts and lingerie inspired silk dresses are finished with lace trims. Blouses tuck into distressed mom cut denim and chunky buckle belts.

Seattle Grunge
Oversized florals, surf palm prints and new wash mottled denim – this collection is full of statement pieces. Acid wash jeans and jackets sit with flashes of neon pink and a touch of pretty embroidery adds a feminine edge.

Shoes & Accessories
Pops of neon, graphic print and clean, structured shapes revitalise the collection. In contrast, delicate detailing on sugary pastels adds femininity with embellishment and statement jewels. Tribal is revisited with ethnic beading, Aztec prints and a rich colour palette of crimson reds, burnt orange and luxe metallics.

Josephus Thimister Back To Design Anti-War Fashion

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

A preview published by The Sunday Telegraph shows a rather scary collection of Cossack jackets, overalls and jodhpurs with fake blood stains on, army coats made from military surplus scrap and pants worked from survival blankets.

After working as a design consultant for the last 10 years as a cause of complete lack of funds, Thimister is now returning to the catwalk of haute couture with the generous help of Didier Grumbach, president of the Federation Française de la Couture, who will cover the costs of production and putting on the stage for this collection from his personal savings.

Also, Thimister shall receive a grant of 5,000 euro that he can pay back in clothes or cash. Some of the famous customers of the Thimister brand in the 1990s were Madonna, Carole Bouquet and Mouna Ayoub, a Lebanese millionaire.
