DIY Bracelets

A girl can never have too many bracelets!
Last week I led a bracelet-decorating craft for some kids and the whole time, all I could think about was getting home so I could make my own! Here are three ideas I came up with. I think this is a really fun idea to do with your girlfriends or cousins. Just put out a bunch of bracelets and all kinds of Aleene's glues and lots of beads, ribbons, markers, gems and stuff like that. Have everyone design their own bracelet!

Bedazzled Braille Bangle Bracelet

Thursday, February 10, 2011

If you have a hot Valentine's Day date, you need the perfect accessory and I think this bracelet might just be it. You can say I Love You in so many different ways, but have you said it lately in bedazzled braille? I didn't think so.

SUPPLIES
Tulip Glam it Up Crystals
Plain Bracelet
Crafty Chica Paint Pack
Paint Brush
Tulip Slick Paint (or Scribbles)

You can find blank wooden bangle bracelets at most craft stores, but feel free to up-cycle an old bangle bracelet in your collection. What about a spent roll of tape? Paint the bracelet whatever color tickles your fancy, I opted for red to go with my Valentine's theme.

After the paint was dried it was time to add my raised dots. I wanted to use a thicker paint like Tulip Slicks or Scribbles. I looked for how to say I Love You in braille on the internet. I first went through and added a slew of hot pink dots.

While my hot pink dots were still wet I placed Tulip Glam it Up Crystals in the correct spots to spell out I Love You in Braille.

For my hot Valentine's Day date with the hubbs I have the perfect accessory. The trick will be finding a cute outfit that will fit me at 9 months pregnant.

Recycled Silver Bangle bracelet

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Can you believe it started as a plastic water bottle? No one will believe this custom bracelet is reclaimed and reworked plastic.
Materials:
– Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint™ in Silver Metallics
– Pencil
– Masking tape
– Paper towel
– Scissors
– Plastic drink bottle, 20 oz.
– Tracing paper
– Craft knife
– Aluminum metal tape (plumbing dept – home improvement stores)
– pattern (click here for pattern)

1. Wash and dry bottle. Carefully cut off top and bottom of bottle using craft knife, leaving smooth center.
2. To create bracelet, cut lengthwise down center section. Use scissors to cut a 2” wide strip.
3. Apply metal tape to bracelet, smoothing out any wrinkles. Use scissors to trim edges straight if needed.
4. Wrap bracelet around a jar or bottle and tape ends in place to secure.
5. Trace pattern onto tracing paper. Position pattern in place on bracelet and add a piece of tape to secure. Use pencil to trace over lines leaving an impression on bracelet.
6. Start flow of dimensional paint on paper towels, using an even pressure on bottle for a smooth line. Referring to photo, squeeze thick lines of Silver Metallic over pattern. Set aside to dry.
